Born on July 22, 1989, in Cuckfield, Tom Mitchell established himself as a prominent figure in Rugby Sevens. He notably captained Team GB’s men’s rugby sevens team in both of the sport’s appearances at the Olympic Games. His leadership guided the team to a silver medal at the Rio 2016 Olympics, where they were defeated by Fiji in the gold medal match.
Mitchell continued to lead Team GB at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where the team finished fourth after a close bronze medal match loss to Argentina. Earlier in his career, Mitchell was the leading scorer in the 2013-14 World Series, a season which saw England place fourth. He also secured a bronze medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, further solidifying his athletic career.
Following his distinguished playing career, Tom Mitchell has moved into roles as a performance coach and content host. He works as a commentator and content host for SVNS, World Rugby, and Rugby Europe. Additionally, he focuses on youth rugby coaching in the UK, aiming to provide high-performance environments, high-quality coaching, and off-field support to aspiring players.
