Tom Nicholls

Tom Nicholls transitioned from a professional Australian rules footballer for the Gold Coast Football Club to an investment banking career. He now works as a Vice President in Investment Banking, having completed a Bachelor of Commerce while playing professionally. After being nominated for the prestigious AFL Rising Star award in Round 16 of the 2013 season, Tom Nicholls was further recognized as the inaugural ruckman for the AFL Players’ Association’s 22under22 team that same year. His professional football career began with his debut in the Australian Football League (AFL) for the Gold Coast Football Club in Round 8 of the 2011 AFL season against Adelaide.

Prior to his official AFL debut, Nicholls competed in the VFL for the Gold Coast Football Club during the 2010 season, demonstrating early progression in his athletic career. During his impactful tenure with the Gold Coast Suns, Nicholls played 45 games, contributing to 15 wins and 1 draw, while accumulating impressive statistics including 997 hit-outs, 204 tackles, and 163 clearances. He further recorded 555 disposals, comprising 175 kicks, 103 marks, and 380 handballs, alongside seven goals and five behinds. Throughout his professional athletic career, Nicholls concurrently pursued and successfully completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree, laying the groundwork for his future transition.
