Tony O’Shea

Tony O’Shea, born on May 9, 1961, in Stockport, Cheshire, England, embarked on his darts journey at 18, initially playing in local leagues before progressing to county and national levels. He joined the British Darts Organisation (BDO) circuit in 1995, marking the start of a distinguished career. Throughout his time with the BDO, O’Shea became known for his consistent deep runs in major tournaments, reaching the finals of seven BDO major darts events, including three BDO World Darts Championship finals (2009, 2012, 2013), two Winmau World Masters finals (2004, 2012), the 2002 World Darts Trophy final, and the 2005 International Darts League final. Despite never clinching a BDO major title, his numerous runner-up finishes underscore his competitive drive and skill during a period when the BDO featured many top-tier players.

His career is highlighted by significant achievements, including a televised nine-dart finish against Adrian Lewis at the 2007 International Darts League, a rare feat in professional darts. O’Shea secured multiple WDF titles, capturing the WDF World Cup Men’s Singles title in 2009. He also boasts victories at various opens, including the Dutch Open (2012), Turkish Open (2009, 2017), BDO International Open (2009), and Scottish Open (2009), among others. His involvement extends beyond competitive play, having served as a regular commentator for televised BDO coverage, further cementing his status as a prominent figure in the sport.
