After gaining significant recognition at Snowboarder magazines Superpark contest at Mammoth Mountain in 2001, Travis Rice went on to redefine professional snowboarding. At the contest, Rice executed a backside rodeo across a 117-foot gap jump, an achievement that led to an immediate offer from Absinthe Films producer Justin Hostynek to feature him in their upcoming film. His pivotal film debut came in 2002 with Absinthe Films’ Transcendence, the same year he secured a gold medal at the Winter X-Games Slopestyle, marking the official start of his professional journey.
Rice consistently pushed the boundaries of the sport, filming numerous video parts featuring challenging maneuvers such as a switch 540 over Chads Gap in Utah, a 120-foot backcountry gap jump. His competitive career boasts multiple US Open victories, an X-Games gold medal, and an Icer Air gold, where he was the first to land a double rodeo 1080 in competition. In 2008, he co-produced and starred in the acclaimed snowboarding film That’s It That’s All, which included the first-ever double cork 1260 and earned him multiple Transworld Magazine Rider’s Poll awards. He continued his competitive success with a Gold medal at the X-Games Big Air Competition in 2009.
