Trill Sammy, a Houston rapper, began his career when he was still in high school, as part of a generation of millennial rappers who used social media to promote their songs. He went viral with local fans and proceeded to establish a following online after publishing his short freestyle with Born Stunna, “Netflix & Chill,” in 2015. The young Texan adopted an Atlanta trap sound aimed at putting the attention on his birthplace, akin to Lil Uzi Vert and Migos. Sammy’s first big break came in 2015, when he collaborated with fellow Houston rapper Dice Soho, the boss of the local Icey Gang clique, on the track “Just Watch.”
In 2016, Sammy released “Check Out,” a laid-back trap track featuring Auto-Tune and a Desiigner-esque rhythm that sampled video games. That same year, he released his debut EP, “Red Album,” which featured Soulja Boy on the single “Trappin'” as well as Slim Thug and Kirko Bangz. That summer, he released the “Trappin'” EP, which featured the songs “Uber Everywhere” and “Martin.” In 2018, he collaborated with Slim Jxmmi of Rae Sremmurd on the singles “Do Not Disturb” and “Feel Better.” He released his single “JetFuel” in 2021. Trill Sammy has almost 100 thousand followers on Spotify. His social media is even more impressively popular. Fans can check out his Instagram where he boasts almost one million followers.
