Canadian professional triathlete Tyler Mislawchuk is building towards his second Olympic Games in Tokyo at the 2021 Summer Olympics. The talented athlete enjoyed a hugely successful 2019 season, winning the ITU World Triathlon Olympic test event in Tokyo, two World Cup golds and a bronze medal in Montreal in the World Triathlon Series.
Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in Canada, Mislawchuk, he was a keen hockey player as a youngster and tried triathlon after a friend recommended the sport for cross-training. He competed in his first triathlon when he was 15 years old, and was discovered by a provincial coach in Manitoba who encouraged the young athlete to train full time. Since then Mislawchuck has gone from strength to strength, ascending the elite World Triathlon Series circuit since his debut in 2015.
He made an impact in his debut year finishing in and around the top 20 on a number of occasions, including WTS Gold Coast, WTS London and WTS Yokohama. 2016 was an even better year for the up and coming triathlete, and Mislawchuk made his Olympic debut at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, finishing in 15th place overall. In 2018 he tasted more success at the Antwerp World Cup when he clinched the bronze, and in 2019 he picked up bronze in the World Triathlon Series, two World Cup gold medals and won the ITU World Triathlon Olympic test event. Mislawchuck is now a top 5 ranked athlete on the ITU World Rankings, and one to watch for the medal podium in Tokyo.
