With 9 UFC wins to his name since 2013, Tyron Woodley is on course to become one of MMA’s hottest emerging talents. Maintaining the status of UFC Welterweight Champion for three years running, the Ferguson, Missouri native splits his time between putting on devastating performances in the octagon, and appearing in a range of stunning Hollywood features, while inspiring the next generation to trade a life of crime for athletic excellence – just as he has.
Beginning his athletic career competing in American football and amateur wrestling during high school, Woodley secured his first professional MMA fights with Headhunter Productions, winning both by first round submission. However, it was a career-changing 3 year stint for Strikeforce that allowed Woodley to really cut his teeth and propel himself to stardom. His 8 victories for the company, and his 2010 Rising Star of the Year award, naturally caught the attention of UFC, where he has earned himself the Welterweight Championship, one Knockout of the Night award, three Performance of the Night awards and one Fight of the Night award. In recent years Woodley has put his personality and athleticism to use in the film industry, appearing as T-Bone in the groundbreaking NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton and joining action legends Sylvester Stallone and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in 2018’s Escape Plan 2: Hades.
A family man with a wife and four children, Woodley refuses to spend his time with his head in the clouds, coaching wrestling at Illinois University and setting his sights on non-profit endeavors to bring both life and sports coaching to youths at risk of falling into drugs and crime. His integrity and dedication across all endeavours are what makes Woodley one of the most impressive rising stars in both the MMA and entertainment industries.
