Vicente Luque

Vicente Catta Preta Luque, born on November 27, 1991, in Westwood, New Jersey, is a Brazilian-American professional mixed martial artist. Raised trilingual, speaking Portuguese, Spanish, and English, Luque began his martial arts journey at age three with karate. After moving to Brazil with his mother at six, he continued karate until age ten. He later transitioned to Muay Thai and Brazilian jiu-jitsu as a teenager, fully committing to mixed martial arts in 2008. In 2021, he earned black belts in both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Luta Livre.

Luque made his professional MMA debut in June 2009, compiling a record of 7–4–1 on the regional circuit in Brazil. His career significantly advanced when he participated in The Ultimate Fighter: American Top Team vs. Blackzilians in 2015, where he showcased his skills by submitting Nathan Coy. Although he lost in the semifinals, this led to his official UFC debut in July 2015 at The Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale. Known as “The Silent Assassin,” Luque quickly became recognized for his aggressive style and finishing capabilities, earning multiple Performance of the Night and Fight of the Night bonuses.

Throughout his UFC tenure, Luque has achieved significant milestones, including 11 wins by knockout and 9 by submission. He holds the record for most Brabo/D’arce choke submission wins in UFC history with 4 and the fastest anaconda choke submission in UFC history at 52 seconds. His notable victories include finishes against Tyron Woodley and Michael Chiesa. Luque has built a reputation as a consistently thrilling welterweight talent with a career record of 23 wins, 12 losses, and 1 draw, primarily fighting out of Brasília, Distrito Federal, Brazil, and training with Kill Cliff FC (formerly Blackzilians).
