Currently ranked as number 4 in the Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight rankings, Vicente Luque is a professional mixed martial artist.
Born in New Jersey but with Brazilian and Chilean heritage, Luque started training in various martial arts at a young age. He took up karate aged just 3 years old, continuing the sport when he moved to Brazil with his mum aged six. As a teenager he branched out into Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, moving into mixed martial arts in 2008. He fought for several regional promotions in Brazil including Fight Club, The Gladiators, Shooto Brazil and Jungle Fight before signing with The Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2015. He also appeared in an episode of The Ultimate Fighter, a reality TV competition hosted by the UFC. In his 17 fights for the promotion, Luque has only lost three, an impressive record for such a fierce sport with numerous formidable opponents. He has been awarded Performance of the Night four times and Fight of the Night four times, cementing his reputation as one of the most well respected and highly regarded competitors in the sport. Luque has also been awarded several accolades by MMAJunkie.com including Fight of the Month three times and Submission of the Month once.
Most recently Luque appeared at UFC 265, winning his bout and being awarded Performance of the Night. He now has nearly 130k followers on his Instagram page with his fanbase growing every day.
