Violette Wautier was born on October 10, 1993, in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan. Her father is Belgian and her mother is Thai. Her family moved to Thailand when she was two years old. She attended Marialai School and later Debsirinromklao School, and also participated in an AFS exchange program in Canada. She earned a Faculty of Communication Arts degree in Motion Pictures and Still Photography from Chulalongkorn University in 2015. She initially appeared in a music video for the band C-Quint before gaining national recognition on season 2 of The Voice Thailand in 2013 at the age of 19, where all four coaches turned for her. Although eliminated in the Knockout round, her exposure from the show launched her career in both singing and acting.
Her acting career began with the horror film ‘The Swimmers’ in 2014. Despite initial criticism, she quickly progressed, appearing in productions by GTH/GDH. She won the Suphannahong Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2016 for her role in ‘Heart Attack’ (2015) and co-starred in ‘A Gift’ (2016). In 2017, she appeared in the indie film ‘Die Tomorrow’. Parallel to her acting, she released the pop single “Gor Kai Mai Me Chan (Just Without Me)” and worked as a radio DJ for Cat Radio. In 2018, she left Universal Music Thailand to establish her independent record label, The Wautier Record, marking a significant turning point in her artistic control.
As an independent artist, Violette released “Drive,” her first English-language single, in 2018, followed by the hit song “Smoke” in the same year. “Smoke” became a record-breaker, accumulating over 90 million views on YouTube and topping charts in 8 countries, including Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia. This established her as the most-streamed English-language Thai artist. She then reunited with Universal Music Thailand and released her debut all-English album, “Glitter and Smoke,” in 2020, which was recognized by NME Asia as one of the top 10 albums from Southeast Asian artists for that year. Her career has continued with diverse projects including films like ‘One for the Road’ (2021), her first Thai-language album ‘Your Girl’ (2022), and her first concert, “YOU BETTER LOVE ME,” in 2023. In 2024, she released the international EP “CALL ME DRAMATIC.”
