Scheana Marie Jancan, known professionally as Scheana Shay, was born on May 7, 1985, in West Covina, California. She acquired a foundation in broadcast journalism, graduating from Bishop Amat High School in La Puente, California, in 2002 and later earning a bachelor’s degree from Azusa Pacific University in 2006. Her early career included guest acting roles in television series such as “Greek” (2007), “Jonas” (2009), “90210” (2010), and “Victorious” (2011). In 2009, she appeared as the lead in the Jonas Brothers’ music video “Pizza Girl.”
Shay gained broader recognition in 2013 as an original cast member on the Bravo reality series “Vanderpump Rules,” where she remained for eleven seasons. During her tenure on the show, she engaged in musical pursuits, releasing several dance-pop singles, including “Good as Gold.” Her performing career expanded in 2018 when she starred in the stage show “Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man” in Las Vegas. Concurrently, she launched her podcast, “Scheananigans with Scheana Shay.” In the music industry, she collaborated with the group The 27s on singles such as “Apples” (2023) and “Sweet & Sour” (2024), and re-recorded an emo version of “Good As Gold.” In 2024, she made a guest appearance on the NBC sitcom “Lopez vs Lopez.”
Beyond entertainment, Shay has developed business ventures, including a lash line, Viva Verano Lashes, launched in 2022 and named after her daughter. She has also engaged in various brand collaborations. In 2024, she was honored with the Illumination Award from the International OCD Foundation for her advocacy in raising awareness about postpartum obsessive-compulsive disorder, a condition she has openly discussed. Her memoir, “My Good Side,” published in 2025, became a New York Times Best Seller.
