Vivian Kong Man Wai

Vivian Kong is an Olympic gold medalist and a celebrated fencer, recognized for her achievements in international competitions. After becoming the first Hong Kong fencer to win a World Cup title at the FIE Women’s Épée World Cup in Havana, Cuba in January 2019, Vivian Kong Man Wai established herself as a formidable presence in international fencing. An accomplished left-handed épée fencer, Kong had previously represented Hong Kong at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, demonstrating consistent elite performance. Her dedication was recognized when she served as flag bearer for Hong Kong, China, at the opening ceremony of the 2018 Asian Games.

This monumental achievement cemented her legacy as one of Hong Kong’s most celebrated athletes and a global icon in the sport of fencing. Following her record-breaking win, Vivian Kong announced her retirement from professional fencing on August 4, 2024, signaling a transition to new career paths. Just two days later, on August 6, 2024, it was publicly announced that Kong would join the Hong Kong Jockey Club. In this new role, she will be instrumental in promoting sports development, channeling her expertise and inspiring presence to foster the next generation of athletes and contribute to the broader sporting landscape in Hong Kong.
