Wesley Eure was born Wesley Eure Loper on August 17, 1951, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His career in entertainment began at a young age, with early experiences in regional theatre, including a role at the American Shakespeare Festival in Stratford, Connecticut, in 1970. This period involved refining his acting skills and working with a dialect coach to modify his Southern accent.

Eure achieved widespread recognition for his role as Dr. Michael William ‘Mike’ Horton on the NBC soap opera “Days of Our Lives,” where he was a main cast member from 1974 to 1981, appearing in 616 episodes. Concurrently, he starred as Will Marshall in the children’s adventure series “Land of the Lost” from 1974 to 1976, participating in 43 episodes. His work during this time established him in both dramatic and children’s television. Beyond acting, Eure expanded his career into writing and producing. He co-created the Emmy-nominated animated series “Dragon Tales” for PBS Kids, which aired from 1999 to 2005, contributing as a developer for 74 episodes. He also served as head writer and director for “Spy TV” on NBC in 2001, and as a co-producer and writer for Fox Television’s “Totally Hidden Video” from 1989 to 1992. His career further includes hosting the Nickelodeon children’s game show “Finders Keepers” from 1987 to 1988.

Outside of television, Eure is an author, with published children’s novels such as “The Red Wings of Christmas” (1992), which was optioned by Disney, and “A Fish Out of Water.” He has also engaged in theatrical productions, starring in plays like “Bus Stop” and musicals such as “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” His consistent involvement in various facets of the entertainment industry, from acting to creative development, marks a diverse and sustained career.
