About

Wi Ha-joon, born Wi Hyun-yi on August 5, 1991, in South Jeolla, South Korea, began his acting career in 2012 with the short film “Peace in Them.” He pursued his passion for performance at Sungkyul University, majoring in theatre and film. After his military service, he steadily built his filmography, making small appearances in films like “Coin Locker Girl” (2015) and “Bad Guys Always Die” (2015). A significant turning point in his early career came with a main role in the horror film “Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum” (2018), followed by a supporting role in the television series “Something in the Rain” (2018), where his performance garnered attention.

His career continued an upward trajectory with various television roles, including “Romance Is a Bonus Book” (2019), for which he earned a Best New Actor – Television nomination at the 55th Baeksang Arts Awards. He further showcased his versatility in “18 Again” (2020), where he played a baseball athlete. However, it was his role as Hwang Jun-ho, a determined police officer, in the Netflix series “Squid Game” (2021) that brought him international recognition and critical acclaim, contributing to the show’s numerous awards, including Primetime Emmy Awards.

Following the success of “Squid Game,” Wi Ha-joon expanded his acting portfolio with leading roles in diverse projects. He played a serial killer in the thriller film “Midnight” (2021) and starred alongside Lee Dong-wook in the television series “Bad and Crazy” (2021–2022). He continued to secure prominent roles in series such as “Little Women” (2022) which achieved double-digit ratings in South Korea, and the Disney+ series “The Worst of Evil” (2023). Most recently, he appeared in the Netflix series “Gyeongseong Creature” (2023–2024) and “The Midnight Romance in Hagwon” (2024), demonstrating consistent career progression and active engagement in both film and television productions in South Korea and globally.
