Kiara Romero

Kiara Romero was born on March 7, 2006, in New York. She later moved to San Jose, California, and completed her high school education online in three years. Romero’s early athletic endeavors included training in Jazz and Contemporary dance at the Joffrey Ballet School. Her golf career began to gain prominence in 2021 when she won the AJGA’s Polo Golf Junior Classic and the California Junior Championship. By 2023, she had been recognized as a four-time Rolex Junior All-American and was ranked #1 in her class by Golfweek. In the same year, Romero won the U.S. Girls’ Junior, a significant achievement that earned her entry into the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open.

Romero continued her academic and athletic career at the University of Oregon, where she quickly made an impact. She won her first collegiate tournament, the 2023 Annika Intercollegiate, shortly after joining. In 2024, she secured another victory at the San Diego State Classic. Her freshman season saw her named the National Freshman of the Year and a First Team All-American. She was also selected for the Arnold Palmer Cup team in 2024. In 2025, Romero’s collegiate success continued with wins at the Big Ten Women’s Golf Championships and the NCAA Gold Canyon Regionals, where she recorded the lowest score in Oregon golf history. This stellar performance led to her being named the 2025 Big Ten Women’s Golfer of the Year and a First-Team All-American for the second consecutive year. By the end of her sophomore season, she was the second-ranked college player and third-ranked amateur golfer.

Her amateur career culminated in 2026 with a tied for 6th finish and low amateur honors at the U.S. Women’s Open. Romero officially turned professional in August 2026, having secured her LPGA Tour membership through the LPGA Elite Amateur Pathway (LEAP). She became eligible by accumulating 23 points in the LEAP standings since 2023, surpassing the 20-point threshold. Her professional debut was at the CPKC Women’s Open, where she shot a 64 in the first round.
