Pop artist Yonee was born in America but built his musical career in the UK, where his eclectic brand of pop found a ready-made audience. He has released several singles and EPs, with recent drops including the likes of ‘F.U.N.’, ‘That’s Your Fault’, and ‘Como Te Llamas’. Perhaps his biggest track to date has been ‘Paradise’, which appeared on his debut EP, 2016’s Who is Yonee? The incredibly diverse influences he cites include Michael Jackson, Busta Rhymes, Carlos Santana, EDM, Sean Paul, and country music. All of these influences are bound together by his songwriting talent.
Yonee hails from Orlando, Florida. Totally self-taught as a musician and songwriter, he began making music at an early age and cites the all-embracing music scene of the early 2000s as one of his key influences. He eventually became a touring DJ, playing at colleges across America, and also taught himself music production and mastering. After moving to Los Angeles, he began releasing his own material.
Despite his American base and focus, Yonee’s music became popular in England, and so he toured there, appearing on several radio stations and connecting with his transatlantic audience in person. His sound duly influenced by his British experience, Yonee returned to LA with the aim of making an R&B-influenced album that was preceded by several singles during 2020.
