Born on July 24, 1987, in the Isle of Sheppey, Kent, UK, Lucas James Eatwell, known professionally as Zack Sabre Jr., embarked on his wrestling career on April 20, 2004. He quickly gained recognition for his intricate technical wrestling style, drawing inspiration from World of Sport and becoming a product of the NWA UK Hammerlock training school, where he won the NWA United Kingdom Junior Heavyweight Championship. His early career also saw success in tag team wrestling, notably holding the IPW:UK Tag Team Championship twice with Marty Scurll. He further honed his craft in promotions like Pro Wrestling Noah, winning the GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship, and Westside Xtreme Wrestling, where he unified titles to become the inaugural wXw Unified World Wrestling Champion in 2010.
Sabre Jr.’s career trajectory significantly shifted in 2017 when he joined New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), initially as part of the Suzuki-gun stable. His tenure in NJPW has been marked by substantial achievements, including becoming a three-time IWGP Tag Team Champion with Taichi and a two-time NJPW World Television Champion. A pivotal year was 2024, when he won the G1 Climax, becoming only the second non-Japanese wrestler to do so, and subsequently captured the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Tetsuya Naito. His exceptional performance earned him the Tokyo Sports’ MVP award, making him only the second non-Japanese wrestler in history to receive this honor. After the disbandment of Suzuki-gun in 2022, he transitioned to lead The Mighty Don’t Kneel (TMDK) faction.
Throughout his career, Sabre Jr. has consistently been recognized for his technical prowess, winning the ‘Best Technical Wrestler’ award from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter for several consecutive years, and being named ‘Best Technical Wrestler of the Decade’ for the 2010s. He has also made sporadic appearances for other major promotions like All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and Ring of Honor (ROH), showcasing his skills on an international stage. Despite a brief loss of the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship in early 2025, he quickly reclaimed it at Tanahashi Jam and continues to solidify his legacy as one of the world’s elite technical wrestlers, defining an era with his unique British style.
