MN2S | News | Apple not shutting down Beats Music

Rumours have been rife that Apple might shut down the Beats Music streaming service after it acquired its parent company Beats for $3bn in May of this year – but Apple have now confirmed that this is not the case.

Apple spokesperson Tom Neumayr told Recode that the rumours were “not true” and refused to comment any further on speculation. TechCrunch suggested that a rebranding may be on the cards, where iTunes would consume Beats Music.

It could make perfect sense for them to do so in their race to launch a viable streaming challenger to Spotify, whose business model has no doubt taken a chunk out of iTunes’ revenues. Click here to read more on the story at Music Ally.
