Beatport have revealed details of Beatport Upload, a new service which will allow producers to upload unsigned music for label A&Rs to listen to.
The company’s VP of Music Services, Terry Weesaringhe, revealed the news at Belfast’s AVA Festival recently. The tracks will also be publicly accessible, helping A&Rs to ascertain the potential strength of tracks, and putting some of the power and influence into the public’s hands.
It’s the latest step in Beatport’s plan to become the dominant force in electronic music streaming, following the recent relaunch of Beatport.com to focus on efforts therein. With licensing deals already in place and all Beatport-stocking publishers’ catalogues slowly joining the service, it puts them one step ahead of now-rivals, SoundCloud.
