George Clinton to release new Parliament album | News | MN2S

Funk legend George Clinton has announced a brand new Parliament album, Medicaid Fraud Dog, coming later in 2018.

Medicaid Fraud Dog will be the first release from Clinton’s P-Funk collective to use the Parliament name since 1980’s Trombipulation. In a recent Reddit AMA, Clinton said new album is set to feature P-Funk stalwarts Fred Wesley, Pee Wee Ellis, Greg Thomas and Benny Cowan. The bandleader also mentioned working with former collaborators Sly Stone and Junie Morrison on the project, and that the album would be 19 songs long.

The album’s lead single, ‘I’m Gon Make U Sick O’Me’, was released last week. The track features a characteristically squelchy bassline, along with a guest verse from rap legend Scarface.

Though this single is the first Parliament release in over 30 years, Clinton has been musically-active throughout the interim period, releasing solo albums, music with the P-Funk All-Stars, and 2014’s Funkadelic album First Ya Gotta Shake the Gate.

He’s also been touring almost non-stop with his Parliament/Funkadelic band, comprised of 1970s veterans and younger musicians like his grandson Tra’zae. Ahead of the album’s release, the P-Funk collective will be touring their native USA, before heading over to Europe in the summer.
