Two of America’s hottest rappers link up for a collaboration that’s hitting fans right in the feels.
Bronx rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie has tapped Lil Uzi Vert for a feature on “Reply”, a cut from his forthcoming LP Artist 2.0. A bass-heavy love song for Gen Z, the track sees these two insightful lyricists speak about the difficulty in making genuine connections through digital communication, while boldly exposing their vulnerability with the song’s central hook: “If I write you, girl, tell me, would you reply?”
Both friends and creative partners, the pair have worked together before on unreleased tracks “Flood My Wrist” and “Nonsense”, but “Reply” marks their first official collaboration. Highly respected names in the global hip-hop community with the world at their feet, Uzi and Boogie recently opened up to Interview Magazine about their creative partnership: “It’s that real genuine shit when you link up with an artist. F*ck the cameras. When it’s off-cameras, that’s when it’s real. You don’t gotta see the love on video. This shit is real life.” A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s next full-length project, Artist 2.0, is due for release in 2020.
“Me and Uzi just did 10 songs in the studio […] We go to the same studio and have the same engineer. He was making his album. I was making my album right there.”
