Multi-talented artist Wyclef Jean joined boyband Rak-Su on the X Factor finals this weekend, helping the group win the entire competition.
This year’s X Factor was highly unique in that both finalists (winners Rak-Su and runner-up Grace Davies) performed original songs of their own. Rak-Su, the urban boy band from Watford, sang original track ‘Dimelo’ for their finalist’s duet performance which saw Wyclef Jean bursting onto the stage mid song to great effect.
Jean referenced his classic contributions to Shakira’s ‘Hips Don’t Lie’, and generally brought down the house with his performance. The video has racked up nearly one million views already, and has reached the top 5 trending videos on YouTube.

Wyclef’s appearance no doubt helped the Rak-Su boys bring in the votes in what proved to be a tough final. Runner-up Grace Davies turned in strong performances of her own compositions, too, dueting with Paloma Faith.
This is the second time Wyclef has been trending on social media in recent weeks. His recent Tiny Desk concert for NPR was dubbed “the most joyful 25 minutes of your day” by Noisey, with many other music publications echoing this sentiment.
After releasing his long-awaited album Carnival III this year, appearing on the X Factor is a great way for Wyclef Jean to cap 2017.
