In our Talent Profiles series, we shine a light on some of the biggest names that MN2S has worked with. This week, we focus on four kings and queens of Latin American music.
Ozuna
Juan Carlos Ozuna Rosado, better known by his stage name Ozuna, is a Puerto Rican singer and songwriter of reggaeton who has won several awards. He avoids using profanity out of respect for his daughter while writing upbeat, inspirational songs that inspire others to pursue their goals. His first hit, “La Ocasión,” which climbed in the Top 30 of the Hot Latin Songs list, gave him his big break in 2016. He went on to work with a number of famous people before releasing his solo album, Odisea, in 2017. The album topped the charts, a feat that Ozuna duplicated with the urbano-leaning Nibiru in 2019, the album Enoc in 2020, and Los Dioses in 2019, his third album with Anuel AA. The artist released OzuTochi in 2022.
Sech
Sech, a Panamanian singer, rapper, songwriter, and producer, debuted his sensuous, slinky Rich Music World single “Little Miss Lonely” in 2018, breaking into the reggaeton and dancehall sectors (featuring Justin Quiles and De la Ghetto). Before going solo, the urbano had built a solid foundation as a member of Panama’s El Combo de Oro production team. In a matter of years, he had become the most well-known and media-savvy musician on the country’s music scene. The singles “Que Más Pues!” (with Justin Quiles), which racked up over 63 million views in its first three months, and “Otro Trago” (featuring Darell), with nearly 133 million views in a month, serve as examples of Sech’s deft rhythmic and lyrical brilliance.
Sech released his second long-player, 1 of 1, in May 2020. The single “Si Te Vas” featuring Ozuna received a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Reggaeton Performance, while the album peaked at number four on the Top Latin Albums list. The artist’s third solo album, 42, was released in 2021. It featured collaborations with Arcángel, Wisin & Yandel, Nicky Jam, and Rauw Alejandro and was highlighted by the hit “911.” The third album by Sech to do so into the U.S. Latin Top Ten. In 2022, Tech released his most recent single, “Noche de Teteo”.
Yendry
Yendry gained notoriety in X Factor Italy’s 2012 competition, and as a result of her performance, she was offered a record deal by Sony Music Italy. She then spent several years as the lead singer of the wildly successful alternative electro band Materianera. In order to embrace her Dominican ancestry, Yendry decided to go solo in 2019 and record Spanish-language pop music. Since then, she has become one of the most popular Dominican artists on the planet thanks to her solo releases, which have amassed millions of views on Spotify and YouTube. On January 25, 2022, she received the nomination as Best New Female artist for the 2022 Premier Le Nuestro. Yendry’s latest single, “KI-KI”, was released earlier this year.
Bad Bunny
Bad Bunny is a well-known Puerto Rican singer, rapper, and producer who is located in San Juan. Since breaking onto the scene in 2016, he has established himself as a key figure in Latin trap music and a general pioneer for urban music. Along with landing dozens of singles on charts for Latin pop, reggaeton, dance, and hip-hop, he has also scored a string of albums that have topped the charts, including his 2018 debut, x100pre, and two albums from 2020, YHLQMDLG and El ltimo Tour Del Mundo. His chameleon-like style, which fuses Latin soul, pop, and R&B with hard-hitting trap rhythms and reggaeton with a fluid delivery that goes from comedy and melancholy to heartache and wrath, is the key to Bad Bunny’s enormous mainstream appeal. He frequently collaborates with contemporary artists like J Balvin, Daddy Yankee, Rosala, and Jhay Cortez, making him one of the most prominent figures in the musica urbana trend. Un Verano Sin Ti, released by Bad Bunny in 2022, became his fourth straight album to reach the top spot.
