Bringing royalty to your event has just got easier.
Towards the tail end of 2017 we were presented with some very exciting news – the engagement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and a royal wedding in 2018. Some of the excitement was tempered when we realised we wouldn’t be getting an extra bank holiday to mark the occasion, but nonetheless it was welcome good news.
The pair were first spotted together in 2016 and it was clear from the outset that the relationship was serious. Just a few months in, Harry released an extraordinary statement asking the press to respect his own and Meghan’s privacy. They became engaged at home in London in November 2017 and announced the engagement at the beginning of December, sparking furious speculation about the wedding. With such an interest in the royal family at a high, there’s no better time to book a celebrity with a royal connection through top talent agency MN2S. We’ve picked three of the best on our books below:
Nadiya Hussain
Nadiya rose to fame on the Great British Bake Off, where her warm personality and exceptional bakes wowed judges and viewers alike. She stormed through the season and was crowned the winner in 2015 – but that was just the beginning of her career.
Since then she’s had several successful cookery books and TV shows and remains a prominent figure in popular culture. Her Muslim background has made her a spokesperson for diversity and tolerance, and she’s become something of a national treasure.
That status was only cemented when she was commissioned in 2016 to create a cake for Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday celebrations at Buckingham Palace. The cake was a resounding success and was complimented by the queen – not many bakers can claim that!
Amanda Wakeley
One of the most respected names in British fashion, Amanda Wakeley has won the British Fashion Award from Glamour magazine on three separate occasions. Both an astute businesswoman and a talented designer, she’s most famous for her glamorous evening wear and accessories.
She’s won an OBE for services to fashion and won plaudits for her work raising funds for breast cancer causes – so what about the royal connection?
Well, it was patronage from Princess Diana which first propelled Wakeley’s clothes into the popular consciousness, and the princess remained a loyal supporter until her death. Wakeley even has a line of bridal dresses these days – so you never know who Meghan Markle may decide to wear on her big day in May!
Alexander Armstrong
We wrote last year about Alexander Armstrong presenting the ITV documentary, A Very Royal Wedding. It chronicled the ups and downs of the 70th wedding anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip – a couple since 1947.
It showed some of the preparations which went into pulling off such an enormous event and recounted the memories of some famous faces who recalled the big day, as well as showing never before seen home video footage from the Queen’s own archives.
The show gives Armstrong a unique insight not just into the royal family, but into the workings of a royal wedding, making him a prescient after dinner speaker in this royal wedding year.
