Woman Who Are the Face of British Tennis

With its shorter, snappier games, women’s tennis is an increasingly popular game, and in the recent Wimbledon 2017 tournament, Brit Jo Konta became the first British woman to reach the semifinals of the singles competition since Virginia Wade in 1978. She’ll walk away from the tournament as the #4 ranked tennis player in the world, a career best and an incredible accomplishment.

With the recent success of Jo, we thought that the time was ripe to take a look at some of the greatest female players in British tennis on the books at our corporate entertainment agency:

Virginia Wade

The aforementioned Virginia Wade was ranked #2 as a singles player and #1 as a doubles player at the peak of her career, and remains one of the greatest British tennis players of all time. In the singles game she picked up three Grand Slam titles, whilst also achieving a further four doubles Grand Slams.

Perhaps her most famous victory came when she won the Wimbledon women’s singles final in 1997, making her the last Brit to win a Grand Slam until Andy Murray scored the US Open title in 2012.
