Chris Moyles

Chris Moyles established himself as a dominant voice in UK radio, earning a Silver Sony Awards DJ of the Year in May 1998 after joining BBC Radio 1 in July 1997. His initial role on the 4:00 AM – 7:00 AM Early Breakfast show quickly led to a Saturday breakfast slot, followed by the high-profile drivetime show from 4:00 PM – 5:45 PM in October 1998, working alongside David ‘Comedy Dave’ Vitty. Prior to his impactful tenure at Radio 1, Moyles honed his craft across various regional stations, including a significant period at Capital FM in 1996, where he hosted ‘The Late Bit’ on Friday and Saturday evenings and served as a regular cover DJ. His earlier career progression included roles at Radio Luxembourg in 1992, Pulse of West Yorkshire in 1993, Signal 1 in 1994, and the Chiltern Radio Network in 1995, where his evening and late-night shows were simulcast across multiple regional outlets.

Additionally, in 2007, his cultural impact was uniquely recognized when the Rugby league team Featherstone Rovers named their home ground the Chris Moyles Stadium.
