Zev Brenner, born in New York to Rabbi and Mrs. Paul Brenner, founded Talkline Communications in 1981. This radio and television network became America’s foremost Jewish broadcast platform. He is an ordained Rabbi and graduated from the New York City Technical College of the City University of New York. Brenner married Adena Karen Berkowitz, a lawyer and daughter of William Berkowitz, in 1988. He resides in Manhattan with his family. Brenner is recognized as one of the few Orthodox Jewish talk-show hosts in the United States, addressing various topics, including controversial subjects within the Jewish community.
Throughout his career, Zev Brenner has interviewed a wide range of significant individuals. His guests have included prominent political figures such as former President Bill Clinton, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Senators Joseph Lieberman and Charles Schumer, former Vice President Dan Quayle, and former Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev. He has also hosted Israeli Prime Ministers Benjamin Netanyahu, Shimon Peres, Yitzhak Shamir, and Yitzhak Rabin, as well as New York City Mayors Mike Bloomberg and David Dinkins, and civil rights activist Al Sharpton. He has played a role in the launch of Spanish TV network LTV and the Russian Radio Channel New Life Broadcasting.
Zev Brenner’s contributions to the Jewish community have been recognized with numerous awards. His talk show has occasionally played an unexpected role in broader investigations, such as in 2010 when the FBI and U.S. Attorney’s Office utilized portions of his show as part of a sting operation. This operation eventually led to the conviction of New York politicians, including Malcolm Smith, in a corruption scandal. His podcast, “Talkline With Zev Brenner,” which began in 2020, continues to feature interviews with newsmakers and celebrities, further expanding his reach and influence.
