United States Corbu, the electronic-psych duo from Brooklyn, is known for their immersive soundscapes and visually rich artistic collaborations, blending architectural inspirations with psychedelic pop.
Corbu collaborated with Jimi Goodwin, singer, songwriter, and bassist of Manchester, UK electronic rock band Doves, on their single 'Lost & Found.' Goodwin co-wrote, mixed, and added his distinctive personality to the track, combining the epic feel of Doves with Corbu's big production.
Corbu supported the British indie rock band Bloc Party on a United States tour, gaining exposure to a wider audience following the release of their debut album 'Crayon Soul.'
Corbu was included on the Red Bull Music Awards '20 before 15' list after their remix of 'You & I (Forever)' by Jessie Ware was recognized.
Corbu partnered with rising Brooklyn indie label Trash Casual for their music releases, noting the label as a supportive and communal environment.
Corbu is an American musical duo comprising Jonathan Graves on vocals and Amanda Scott on synth and percussion. Both Graves and Scott are originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and later met in New York City. The duo’s name is inspired by the architect, designer, and artist Le Corbusier, reflecting their structured approach to music and art. Corbu began as Graves’ solo project, exploring samplers and integrating concepts from nature and architecture into music. Scott, initially new to playing instruments, joined and became integral to the duo’s creative process, contributing to co-writing and production.
In 2014, Corbu released their EP “We Are Sound,” with their first single receiving airplay from Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1. That same year, their remix of Jessie Ware’s “You & I (Forever)” earned them a spot on the Red Bull Music Awards ’20 before 15′ list. Their debut album, “Crayon Soul,” released in August 2016, was mixed by Dave Fridmann. Following its debut, Corbu supported Bloc Party on a United States tour. Their track “Battles” was recognized by The Sunday Times and accompanied by an animated music video directed by Daniel Cordero.
Corbu has performed at significant music festivals, including Austin City Limits in 2016 and Electric Forest in 2017. In 2021, they collaborated with Jimi Goodwin, singer, songwriter, and bassist of the UK electronic rock band Doves, on their single “Lost & Found.” Goodwin co-wrote and mixed the track, which was part of their “Lost & Found” EP released on June 4, 2021. The music video for “Lost & Found” was filmed in Western Pennsylvania, a nostalgic nod to Graves and Scott’s origins, blending natural landscapes with psychedelic visual effects.
