Daniel Michael Andriano, born on June 27, 1977, in Elgin, Illinois, began his musical journey in 1993 with the punk-ska band Slapstick. As a bassist and backing vocalist, he contributed to two full-length albums, “Lookit!” and a self-titled compilation, before the band dissolved in 1996. Following Slapstick, Andriano co-founded Tuesday, releasing the EP “Early Summer” and the album “Freewheelin” in 1997, further establishing his presence in the punk rock community.
Andriano’s career saw a significant turning point in late 1997 when he joined Alkaline Trio as the bassist and co-lead vocalist, replacing Rob Doran. His first recording with the band was the 1998 EP “For Your Lungs Only,” and he has since been an integral part of every subsequent Alkaline Trio release, contributing to their extensive discography which includes albums like “Goddamnit” (1998), “From Here to Infirmary” (2001), “Crimson” (2005), and “Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs” (2024).
Beyond Alkaline Trio, Andriano has cultivated a successful solo career under the moniker Dan Andriano in the Emergency Room, releasing his debut solo album, “Hurricane Season,” in 2011 through Asian Man Records, followed by “Party Adjacent” in 2015. He also participated in The Revival Tour in 2011 and 2012, touring with artists such as Chuck Ragan and Laura Jane Grace. In 2019, he joined the rock supergroup The Damned Things, recording the album “High Crimes,” and later formed the side project Dan Andriano & The Bygones, which released their debut album “Dear Darkness” in 2022. Andriano has consistently utilized Fender Jazz and Precision Basses throughout his career, alongside Marshall Major and Orange AD-200B amplifiers.
