Deadmau5

Deadmau5, born Joel Thomas Zimmerman, is a Canadian electronic music producer and DJ renowned for his progressive house and electro house compositions, as well as his distinctive ‘Mau5head’ helmet. After releasing his debut studio album Get Scraped in 2005, Deadmau5 went on to form BSOD with Steve Duda, releasing ‘This Is The Hook’ in 2006, before establishing his record label, Mau5trap, in 2007. His career saw a significant turning point with the release of his third studio album, Random Album Title, in 2008. This album, certified gold in Canada and silver in the United Kingdom, featured prominent tracks such as ‘Faxing Berlin,’ ‘Not Exactly,’ and ‘I Remember,’ a collaboration with Kaskade.

His exploration into new creative avenues included composing the score for the 2019 Netflix film Polar. In recent years, Deadmau5 has expanded his collaborative efforts, forming supergroups like Kx5 with Kaskade in 2022 and Rezzmau5 with Rezz. These projects have continued to push the envelope of electronic music. His lasting impact and influence were recognized in 2024 when he received the Legend Award at the Electronic Dance Music Awards and was inducted into the Music Industry Hall of Fame at Canadian Music Week, cementing his status as a pioneer and icon in the global electronic music scene.
