Sebastian Carlos Muecke, known professionally as Basenji, is an Australian electronic musician and DJ from Sydney. He commenced his career in music by gaining recognition through the Triple J Unearthed competition. This early exposure led to his signing with the record label Future Classic in 2014, marking a significant step in his professional music journey. Following this, he released several singles and an extended play, establishing his presence in the electronic music scene.
Basenji’s musical style is characterized by buoyant, pop-oriented electronic music. He has performed at notable festivals such as Splendour In The Grass and Falls Festival, which are significant platforms for electronic artists in Australia. His track, “Can’t Get Enough” (2015), was featured in the opening of the 2016 film *Nerve* and included on its soundtrack, expanding his reach to an international audience. This exposure coincided with a tour of the United States. His single “Mistakes” (featuring Tkay Maidza) (2017) reached number 16 on the ARIA Charts Hitseekers Singles chart.
His debut EP, *Trackpad*, was released on October 12, 2015, through Future Classic.
