Dominic Louis Matheson, known professionally as Dom Dolla, was born in Manila, Philippines, in 1992 to Australian parents. He spent his early years in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia, before relocating to Melbourne as a teenager. In Melbourne, he developed an interest in house and electronic music. After completing high school at Kew High School, he initially pursued studies in design, focusing on typography and logo design. However, he transitioned to full-time music production at the encouragement of his manager, James.
His career began in 2013 with the release of his debut single, “The Boxer.” Significant early career milestones include the 2015 release of “Love Like This” and the collaboration “Define” with Go Freek, which reached number 2 on the ARIA Club End Of Year Chart. Dolla achieved his first number one on the ARIA Club Chart with “Define” in 2015, followed by “You” in 2016, and “Be Randy” with Torren Foot in 2017. “Be Randy” earned him an ARIA Award nomination for Best Dance Release. In October 2018, “Take It” became his fourth ARIA Club Chart number one, also receiving an ARIA Award nomination. He continued this success with “San Frandisco” reaching number one in November 2019 and charting at number 33 in the Triple J Hottest 100, 2019. In 2020, “San Frandisco” won the ARIA Award for Best Dance Release, marking a significant achievement in his career.
Dolla’s career progression continued with multiple chart-topping tracks on the ARIA Club Chart, including “Moving Blind” (with Sonny Fodera) in 2020, “Rhyme Dust” (with MK) in 2023, “Eat Your Man” (with Nelly Furtado) in 2023, “Saving Up” in 2023, “Girls” in 2024, and “Dreamin'” (featuring Daya) in 2025. “Rhyme Dust” also secured him another ARIA Award for Best Dance/Electronic Release. He received a Grammy Award nomination in 2024 for his remix of “New Gold” and a Juno Award nomination for “Eat Your Man.” He has performed at major festivals like Coachella (2022) and Lollapalooza (2023), and sold out venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Forest Hills Stadium. In December 2025, Dom Dolla made history by becoming the first electronic act to headline an Australian stadium show, performing to 40,000 people at Sydney’s Allianz Stadium.
