About

Flight Facilities is an Australian electronic music production duo comprising Hugo Gruzman and James Lyell. They began their musical journey in Sydney in 2009 by mixing songs from other artists before transitioning to creating their own original material. This early period saw them rework tracks for artists such as Bag Raiders, Toecutter, and Sneaky Sound System. Their distinctive sound, blending disco, house, indie pop, and electronic elements, quickly garnered attention. Their debut original song, “Crave You,” featuring Giselle Rosselli, received extensive airtime on Australia’s alternative music radio station Triple J in 2010, which marked a significant milestone in their career.

Following the success of “Crave You,” which ranked No. 19 in the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2010 and featured in Myer’s 2010 Spring Racing Carnival TV campaign, Flight Facilities embarked on their first tour, Maiden Voyage, in July 2010. They performed across Australia and in Japan. Their subsequent singles, “Foreign Language” (2011) and “Clair de Lune” (2012), continued to build their reputation, with the latter reaching No. 17 in the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2012. In 2012, they collaborated with Triple J to re-explore 40 years of music, creating four one-hour mixes spanning from 1972 to 2012, showcasing their deep musical knowledge and curatorial skills.

Their debut album, “Down to Earth,” released in October 2014, was a critical and commercial success, reaching No. 3 on the ARIA Albums Chart and achieving gold certification by the end of 2015. The album featured collaborations with notable artists including Kylie Minogue, Emma Louise, Reggie Watts, and Bishop Nehru. The duo has also gained international recognition, performing at major festivals such as SXSW and Coachella. In 2015, their performance with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra led to a live album release, which won the ARIA Award for Best Classical Album in 2016. Their second studio album, “Forever,” was released in 2021, and they continue to tour globally, including an infamous Decades Tour in 2023 and a return to Coachella in 2024.
