Faze Action, the British dance music band comprised of brothers Simon and Robin Lee, originated from Amersham, Buckinghamshire, England. Both brothers showed early musical interest, with Robin pursuing formal music education at Goldsmiths College in London. Their collaborative journey began in 1995 with the release of the *Original Disco Motion EP*, which garnered support from influential DJs like François Kevorkian. This initial success led to a contract with Nuphonic Records. In 1996, while Robin was working as an English teacher in Osaka, Japan, they produced “In the Trees,” a track that significantly increased their exposure and remains one of their most recognized works. The track was reissued in 2007 with remixes from notable artists including Carl Craig and Jerome Sydenham.
Upon Robin’s return to the UK, Faze Action released their debut album, *Plans and Designs*, in 1997. Their music, characterized by its fusion of house music with Western classical, pan-African, and Latin influences, secured a licensing deal for their 1999 album, *Moving Cities*, with F-111/Warner Bros. Records in the United States. Throughout their career, Faze Action has accumulated extensive remix credits for artists such as Yellow Sox, Diana Brown, Femi Kuti, Serge Gainsbourg, Metronomy, Ibibio Sound Machine, Francois Kevorkian, and Saint Etienne. They continued to release new material, including the 2009 album *Stratus Energy*, known for its 1980s disco vocals and synths, and the *Body of One* LP in 2014, which featured remixes by Phil Mison, Dicky Trisco, Chuggy, and Eric Duncan.
As an eight-piece live entity, Faze Action has toured globally, notably with Groove Armada across North America in 2000, and as a headline act for the Vibes on a Summer’s Day festival in Australia. Their live performances have graced stages at major festivals including Glastonbury, The Big Chill, and Benicassim. They have also maintained a consistent presence as DJs, signing with the MN2S agency in early 2015. A career-spanning ‘best of’ compilation, *Faze Action Presents – Disco Excursions Vol. 1*, was released in 2018, and the Lee brothers have continued to release new music into 2024, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to their craft and sustained impact within the dance music genre.
