Guy James Robin, known professionally as Jonas Blue, was born on August 2, 1989. He is a British DJ, record producer, songwriter, and remixer. His career gained significant traction in 2015 with the release of a tropical house cover of Tracy Chapman’s 1988 single “Fast Car.” This debut single, featuring Dakota, peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart. The track achieved commercial success, charting higher than Chapman’s original in the UK and reaching number one in Germany, Sweden, Australia, and New Zealand. “Fast Car” has accumulated over 1 billion streams on Spotify and more than 310 million views on Vevo.
Blue continued his success with subsequent releases, including “Perfect Strangers” in 2016, which featured JP Cooper and peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart. This track contributed to Blue reaching one billion streams across his music and videos. In October 2016, he released “By Your Side” featuring Raye, which reached number 15 on the UK Singles Chart. In 2017, Blue released “Mama” featuring William Singe, a song that charted at number four on the UK Singles Chart. His work includes collaborations with artists such as Craig David, Sabrina Carpenter, Jack & Jack, Liam Payne, and Rita Ora. His debut album, “Blue,” was released in November 2018. More recently, he has released a new album, ‘Together’, collaborated with Sam Feldt on the ‘Endless Summer’ project, and released ‘Weekends’ with other top German DJs.
Throughout his career, Blue has received multiple awards and nominations. He was nominated for Best Push Act at the 2016 MTV Europe Music Awards. His songs “Fast Car” and “Mama” also received nominations for British Single of the Year at the Brit Awards in 2017 and 2018, respectively. In 2022, Jonas Blue also released his first collaboration with America’s Why Don’t We.
