Hector Romero is a fixture of New York’s ever-changing nightlife scene, remaining at the forefront of the industry over an incredible four-decade career. Born and raised in The Bronx, Hector’s DJ credits include playing legendary venues likes Limelight, Palladium, The Roxy and Save The Robots. Over the years he has become one of New York City’s premiere ambassadors of house, bringing his uniquely soulful house vibrations to clubs and venues all over the world.
With 30+ years of experience this career DJ is now repurposing his musical diversity and eclectic taste into arena of remix and production. Romero has masterminded successful compilations including King Street’s “Soulful House Journey” and more recently Nervous Record’s “Weaving Genres”, an instant classic that includes one of Romero’s own productions, the “Dancing” collaboration with Benji Candelario. He’s also remixed the legendary David Morales, releasing the “Stay” remix on Ultra Records in 2012. A music obsessive at heart, Hector has taken to the decks for a range of influential radio shows, including being resident DJ for Def Mix Radio, running his own monthly podcast for iTunes and appearing regularly as a guest on Paris’ FG radio, subbing for Morales while holding down a monthly spot on Italy’s Radio 105.
On top of his extensive experience behind the decks, Hector’s long-standing position as an A&R exec at Def Mix Music and Saw Recordings gave him the opportunity to work alongside the legendary David Morales and Frankie Knuckles. Although New York is still his geographical and spiritual home, Hector can frequently be found stirring up dance floors as far afield as Italy, Greece, Japan, Spain.
