Mad Professor

Pioneering dub music producer and engineer Mad Professor established Ariwa Sounds in 1979, launching his prolific career from a four-track recording studio located in his Thornton Heath home. Initially, he focused on recording lovers rock bands and vocalists for his burgeoning Ariwa label. In 1982, Mad Professor relocated his studio to Peckham, significantly upgrading to an eight-track setup, which he later expanded to sixteen tracks. This pivotal period also saw the inception of his acclaimed ‘Dub Me Crazy’ album series, garnering substantial support from legendary DJ John Peel, who frequently featured tracks on his popular radio show, introducing Mad Professor’s distinctive sound to a wider audience.

His pioneering spirit in dub production and engineering has not only shaped the genre but continues to impact contemporary artists across various musical landscapes, ensuring his status as a sought-after collaborator and visionary producer worldwide.
