Henry Alfred Steinway, known professionally as RL Grime, is a prominent American DJ and producer celebrated for his innovative contributions to trap and bass music. He began his career in 2011 as a member of the Los Angeles electronic music collective WeDidIt, where he released his debut EP, “Grapes,” in 2012. This project showcased his unique sound and laid the groundwork for his future success.
RL Grime gained significant recognition with his remix of Kanye West’s “Mercy,” which amassed millions of plays on SoundCloud and solidified his reputation in the electronic music scene. His follow-up EP, “High Beams,” released in 2013, debuted at No. 8 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums chart and No. 1 on the iTunes Electronic Chart, further establishing him as a leading figure in the genre.
In 2014, RL Grime released his debut studio album, “Void,” featuring collaborations with artists like Big Sean and Boys Noize. The album’s standout track, “Core,” became a festival anthem, showcasing his ability to create high-energy music that resonates with audiences. His second album, “Nova,” released in 2018, continued this trend, featuring collaborations with notable artists such as Miguel and Joji.
In 2019, RL Grime founded his record label, Sable Valley, aimed at nurturing emerging talent in the electronic music landscape. His annual Halloween mixes have become a cultural phenomenon, featuring celebrity cameos and showcasing new music.
