After being a key figure in the Birmingham underground dance scene for a decade plus, Tom Shorterz is now rightfully breaking out into the wider world. He is a skilled DJ and selector who has been locked into the house, grime and bass scenes since he was a child. Nowadays he likes to call his sound house & bass, and it is one that has really cottoned on ardour the country. Characterised by explosive sets full of heavy, rib rattling subs and driving drums, Tom cuts in many vocals resulting in raw, energetic and unpredictable sets that make for a thrilling ride. To date he has laid them down in many key venues across the UK and is also one of the men behind Birmingham’s leading 2:31 held at the Rainbow Warehouse.
One of the most vibrant parties in the country with Tom at the core, the night has spawned a sister all-nighter 10:31 and a show every month on London’s famous Rinse FM. Of course, as well as being a fierce DJ, Tom is also an accomplished producer who has been making beats for more than ten years now. His old school tinged tracks, with their killer grooves an infectious percussive lines, including the hard hitting ‘Wot U Do’ on Four40 Records, a remix of Hot Natured’s anthem ‘Reverse Skydiving’ for Richy Ahmed’s 2013 Rinse mix CD and many more releases on the Rinse label including ‘Bump’, also include releases on Virgin EMI who have also signed him up for great cut ‘Colours’ featuring vocal from Lucy Love. As such Tom is very much on the charge and is sure to be making even more headlines for years to come.
