Daron Jones, Michael Keith, Quinnes “Q” Parker and Marvin “Slim” Scandrick are 112, an acclaimed r&b quartet that hail from Atlanta and have been turning out big hit singles and albums ever since they got together back in 1994. With a sound that takes its cues from hip hop, soul and gospel, the group emerged from Sean P Diddy Coombs’ Bad Boy Roster and hit the big time right from the get go.
Their debut album, 112, in 1996 was a big success, whilst the band members also appeared on music by the likes of Mase and Notorious B.I.G. 112 have a clean and sophisticated image, unlike many of their label mates, and this helped them make it in the mainstream with singles like ‘Cupid’ and then ‘Only You,’ which hit number 3 in the r&b chart and No. 13 on the Billboard 100. Leaving the label in 2003, they have continued to release much loved records such as Room 112, which went gold in 1998 (and then double platinum) and saw the band tour with Whitney Houston.
2000 brought a Grammy nomination for the Part III album and single Peaches & Cream, and it also claimed to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 before going Platinum. later signing with Def Jam, the band took a hiatus after another platinum album in 2005 but returned to work in 2010 and in 2015 they performed during a Bad Boy Records reunion segment at the BET Awards. As such this much loved group are some of the greatest hit makers and live performers of their generation and continue to prove so in the modern era.
