6LACK has emerged as a distinct voice in contemporary R&B, combining melancholic introspection with impactful lyrical delivery. After signing a record deal with Flo Rida’s International Music Group and Strong Arm Records in July 2011, 6LACK dedicated five years to releasing music on SoundCloud, cultivating his unique blend of R&B and hip-hop. In 2015, he joined the Atlanta-Baltimore musical collective Spillage Village, co-founded by EarthGang and JID, where he was featured on their EP ‘Bears Like This Too.’ This period marked a pivotal transition, leading him to secure new representation and sign with Love Renaissance and Interscope Records. In November 2016, 6LACK released his critically acclaimed debut studio album, ‘Free 6lack,’ which achieved commercial success by peaking at number 34 on the Billboard 200.
