A-Lin

Lisang Pacidal Koyouan, publicly known as A-Lin, was born on September 20, 1983, in Lingya, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Her musical journey began during her youth when, at the age of 16 in 1999, she was discovered while teaching children to sing “Amazing Grace” after the Jiji earthquake. This initial encounter led to a formal singing contract four years later, marking her entry into the music industry. She made her official debut in February 2006 with the studio album “Lovelorn, Not Guilty” under Avex Taiwan. Over the years, A-Lin has gained recognition for her vocal range and emotive delivery, earning the nickname “A Born Diva” within the Mandarin-speaking world. Her career is marked by consistent album releases and participation in various music events.

A-Lin’s career progression includes a significant album release in 2008 titled “Diva,” followed by “Before, After” in 2009 and “Loneliness Is Not the Hardest Part” in 2010. In 2012, she performed internationally in Sydney, attracting audiences from various cities. A turning point occurred in 2013 when Avex Taiwan exited the market, leading her to sign with Sony Music. Her first album with Sony Music, “Guilt” (2014), received a nomination for Best Mandarin Female Singer. In 2015, her participation in the third season of “I Am a Singer” further boosted her public profile and solidified her reputation as a skilled vocalist. She continued to release albums, including “A-Lin” (2017) and “Link” (2022). Her album “LINK” earned her the Best Chinese Female Artist award at the 34th Golden Melody Awards.

Throughout her career, A-Lin has demonstrated consistent engagement in the music industry, securing multiple award nominations and performances. Her vocal style, characterized by a wide range and emotional depth, has been a defining feature. She has released nine studio albums, each contributing to her standing in Mandopop. Her work often includes collaborations and appearances in various media, such as a special appearance in the 2018 film “More than Blue.” A-Lin’s dedication to her craft and her ability to connect with audiences through her music have maintained her relevance in the industry for nearly two decades.
