A Thousand Horses

A Thousand Horses achieved significant national recognition with their 2014 single, ‘Smoke,’ which opened at number 28 on the Country Aircheck radio chart—marking the highest debut for a new act at that time—and went on to reach number one on the Country Airplay chart. This success positioned A Thousand Horses as the first country group since Zac Brown Band in 2008 to chart a number-one debut single. The band, formed in 2010 and comprising Michael Hobby (lead vocals), Bill Satcher (lead guitar), Graham DeLoach (bass and vocals), and Zach Brown (guitar, vocals), had previously released their debut EP, A Thousand Horses, in 2010 under Interscope Records, produced by Dave Cobb. This early work included the song ‘Suicide Eyes,’ which was featured in the 2011 film Footloose, foreshadowing their breakthrough after signing with Republic Nashville in 2014.

The band’s narrative continued to evolve, navigating a lineup change with the departure of Zach Brown in 2023. In 2024, A Thousand Horses released their latest album, The Outside, which continues to showcase their unique fusion of Heartland Rock, Southern Boogie-Woogie, and amplified Country music. With a celebrated No. 1 single and a Top 5 debut album, A Thousand Horses maintains its position as a dynamic force in the country-rock landscape.
