Tomas Henry Gaynor, professionally known as Allday, was born on February 21, 1991, in Adelaide, South Australia. He attended Blackwood High School and Mercedes College, and explored music early on by playing in a punk band in high school. Gaynor began writing music at age 11 but started recording at 18 due to equipment limitations. His early career saw him uploading music for free online, which gained traction and led him to move to Melbourne in February 2012 to pursue a full-time music career. During his early years, he also attempted stand-up comedy, reaching the national finals of Raw Comedy in 2011.

Allday’s career officially commenced in 2011 with the release of his debut mixtape, “Noue Yesue,” followed by “Soon I’ll Be in Cali.” His 2012 mixtape, “A Skateboard Soirée,” received nationwide airplay on Triple J, earning him and producer C1 “Unearthed Artist of the Week” honors. The single “So Good” from this mixtape peaked at number 91 on the Triple J Hottest 100, 2012. In 2013, his debut EP, “Loners Are Cool,” reached number 18 on the ARIA Charts. A pivotal moment came in December 2013 when he signed with OneTwo Records, leading to the release of “Claude Monet.”

His debut album, “Startup Cult,” released in July 2014, achieved considerable success, reaching number 3 on the ARIA Albums Chart. This success was followed by a national tour of Australia. In July 2015, he released another mixtape, “Soft Grunge Love Rap.” Allday continued his career progression with his second studio album, “Speeding,” released in April 2017, and his third, “Starry Night Over the Phone,” which peaked at number 7 in Australia in July 2019. He temporarily relocated to Los Angeles in February 2017 but returned to Melbourne in 2019, where he remained due to visa renewal and the COVID-19 pandemic.
