AlunaGeorge, the dynamic English electronic music duo from London, consists of singer-songwriter Aluna Francis and producer George Reid. Their professional journey began in June 2009 when Reid remixed a track from Francis’s band, My Toys Like Me. This collaboration laid the groundwork for their future success, leading to the release of their debut single “You Know You Like It” in April 2012, which garnered significant attention and set the stage for their first commercial single, “Your Drums, Your Love,” that debuted at number 50 on the UK Singles Chart in September 2012.

In 2013, AlunaGeorge made waves with their debut album, “Body Music,” which was released in July and featured the hit single “Diver.” Their innovative sound earned them a nomination for the BRIT Award of Critics’ Choice and a second-place finish in the BBC’s Sound of 2013 poll. The duo’s collaboration with Disclosure on “White Noise” further solidified their presence in the music scene, reaching number two on the UK Singles Chart and showcasing their ability to blend genres seamlessly.

Following their initial success, AlunaGeorge continued to evolve, releasing their second studio album, “I Remember,” in September 2016, which included collaborations with notable artists like Popcaan and Flume. Their music, characterized by a fusion of R&B, garage, and experimental pop, has been praised for its unique sound and emotional depth, with Francis’s vocals described as both sweet and soulful.

In 2020, AlunaGeorge entered an indefinite hiatus, allowing both members to explore solo projects. Aluna Francis released her debut solo album, “Renaissance,” in August 2020, followed by her sophomore album, “MYCELiUM,” in July 2023, which featured the hit track “Running Blind.” Despite their hiatus, AlunaGeorge’s impact on the electronic music landscape remains significant, with their innovative approach and genre-blending style continuing to inspire artists and fans alike.
