Ann Marie, born Joann Marie Slater on November 20, 1995, in Englewood, Chicago, Illinois, began her musical journey at an early age. Her early exposure to music, encouraged by her uncle who prompted her to sing Whitney Houston’s “My Love Is Your Love,” laid the foundation for her career. Rooted in 90s R&B, her sound draws influence from artists like Aaliyah, Jagged Edge, SWV, and Xscape. She independently released several mixtapes, building a following before signing with Interscope Records.

Her career gained significant momentum with the release of her single “Secret,” featuring YK Osiris. This track achieved widespread recognition, accumulating over 100 million views on YouTube and peaking at number 22 on the Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart. In 2019, she released her debut EP, “Pretty Psycho,” which further solidified her presence in the R&B scene. Ann Marie’s dedication to her craft and her ability to connect with an audience through her music have been central to her success.
