About

Rylee Anuheakeʻalaokalokelani Jenkins, known as Anuhea, was born on December 10, 1985, in Maui County, Hawaii. She grew up in Makawao, Maui, and is of Hawaiian, Chinese, German, Welsh, and Native American descent. Anuhea graduated from Kamehameha Schools in 2003 and later attended Chapman University, though she left in 2005. Early in her career, she participated in the 2006 Miss Maui Pageant, winning Miss Congeniality and finishing as 2nd Runner Up. This experience, alongside gaining recognition for her music on platforms like Myspace, led her to focus on her music career.

Anuhea’s self-titled debut album was released on April 21, 2009. This album achieved charting success, appearing in the top 10 on the iTunes Pop charts and on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. In 2010, she received two Na Hoku Hanohano awards for Most Promising Artist and Contemporary Album of the Year. Her second album, “For Love,” was released on February 14, 2012, and included hit songs such as “Higher than the Clouds” and “Simple Love Song.” She later released a live album, “Butterflies: Anuhea Live,” in 2013 through Mailboat Records, founded by Jimmy Buffett. In 2017 and 2018, she released “Follow Me” and its “Deluxe Hawaii Edition,” which led to her winning Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2019 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards and the fan-voted Island985/iHeart Radio Island Music Award for Female Solo Artist.

Throughout her career, Anuhea has collaborated with artists such as Jack Johnson and Ziggy Marley. She has toured extensively across the continental U.S., Japan, China, Australia, and New Zealand. She opened for Bruno Mars, Al Green, and Sugar Ray, and headlined the 2011 NFL ProBowl Halftime show. Anuhea has also performed the National Anthem for NBA and NFL games, including for her favorite team, the Minnesota Vikings, in 2015. Beyond music, she has appeared on television shows like “Hawaii 5-0” and “Married to Medicine” and performed voice-over work for a Huggies Diaper commercial. Her commitment to giving back led her to establish the Aloha Always Foundation, which provides scholarships for higher education to deserving Hawaii students.
