Celeste

Known as a British singer, Celeste Epiphany Waite, is also a songwriter. Celeste was born in Culver City, California in 1994. Celeste move to UK when she was 3 years old. During her teenage years, Celeste noticed her interest in music as she felt inspired by artists like Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Thelonious Mon, Sun Ra and Koyo Taylor. She began writing music and she also performed in bands. Celeste wrote her first song Sirens, inspired by the death of her father. She published Sirens on YouTube and it reached the attention of her current manager. Celeste began working in the studio when she was 18, after having graduated. She decided to pursue a career in music and she played her first gigs in and around Brighton. However, Celeste still wanted a degree in music, therefore she studied Music Technology at Varndean College. Celeste compiled three of her songs, into a four-track self titled extended play. Her EP was described as a combination of melancholic pop and electronic tracks. She also began her musical journey onto the BBC Music Introducing in 2014. It was through this appearance that Celeste began being featured in many DJs songs, like Avicii’s 2015 song Touch Me. In 2016, Celeste released her debut single Daydreaming with Lily Allen’s record label. With her unique style in music, Celeste released her debut album Not Your Muse in 2021, and it reaching at number 1 on the UK Albums Chart. Not Your Muse was also nominated for Academy Award for Best Original Song for Hear My Voice of the film The Trial of the Chicago 7.
