Charlie Zaa

Charlie Zaa launched his international career in 1996 with his debut album, Sentimientos, which showcased his bolero interpretations of classics by artists such as Olimpo Cárdenas and Julio Jaramillo. This seminal release sold over three million copies across Latin America and the United States. Prior to his solo breakthrough, Zaa gained initial experience performing with renowned Colombian salsa orchestras, including Grupo Niche and Guayacán. Following the success of his debut, he released Segundo Sentimiento in 1998 and Ciego de Amor in 2000, with the latter selling over half a million copies in Mexico and exceeding one million globally.

Continuing his momentum, Zaa’s 2001 album, De un Solo Sentimiento, further cemented his reputation in the Latin music scene, earning a Latin Grammy nomination in 2002 and topping the charts. He demonstrated career progression by exploring diverse musical styles, incorporating pop tropical elements in Grandes Sentimientos (2002) before releasing his first all-bachata album, Bachata con Puro Sentimiento, in 2005. His consistent ability to blend traditional Latin genres with contemporary influences has resonated with audiences worldwide. In 2010, Charlie Zaa made a significant comeback with De Bohemia, an album dedicated to Orlando Contreras.

Known for his powerful interpretations of iconic songs by legends like Orlando Contreras and Joan Sebastian, Zaa remains an internationally recognized solo artist whose work continues to define and expand the landscape of Latin music.
