City Morgue is an American hip-hop duo from New York City, formed in 2017, consisting of rappers ZillaKami (Junius Rogers) and SosMula (Vinicius Sosa). Prior to forming City Morgue, ZillaKami had collaborated extensively with 6ix9ine in the underground hip-hop scene and worked with his older half-brother, Peter Rogers (Righteous P), CEO of Hikari-Ultra. The duo’s origins involved meeting after SosMula’s release from jail and collaborating with producer Bouabdallah Sami Nehari (Thraxx). This formation led to the creation of numerous projects including singles such as “Sk8 Head”, “Shinners13”, and “33rd Blakk Glass”, and their debut album, “City Morgue Vol 1: Hell or High Water”.
City Morgue quickly gained recognition for their distinct blend of punk rap, trap metal, and nu metal, characterized by ZillaKami’s aggressive vocals and SosMula’s higher-register delivery over a backdrop of metal samples. Their music reflects influences from various genres including DMX, Alice in Chains, Onyx, and Slipknot. The duo signed with Hikari-Ultra in partnership with Republic Records, contributing to their mainstream visibility. They have performed alongside notable artists such as Denzel Curry and $uicideboy$. Throughout their career, City Morgue has released a series of successful albums and mixtapes, including “City Morgue Vol 2: As Good as Dead” (2019), the “Toxic Boogaloo” mixtape (2020), and “City Morgue Vol 3: Bottom of the Barrel” (2021). Their final studio album, “My Bloody America”, was released in 2023.
The duo is known for their intense and often chaotic live performances, which include a mix of hip-hop and hardcore show elements. They have toured extensively, participating in events like Denzel Curry’s Ta13oo tour and $uicideboy$’s Grey Day tours (2019 and 2023).
