Constantines is a celebrated indie rock band hailing from Guelph, Ontario, Canada, known for their dynamic sound and impactful contributions to the music scene since their formation in 1999. The band was established by vocalist and guitarist Bryan Webb, drummer Doug MacGregor, and guitarist Paul Bright, who were later joined by bassist Dallas Wehrle. Their early work garnered significant attention, particularly their self-titled debut album released in 2001, which earned a Juno Award nomination for Best Alternative Album and showcased their unique blend of art-punk influences.
In 2003, Constantines released their second album, “Shine a Light,” through Sub Pop Records, marking their first international release. This album not only topped the !earshot National Top 50 chart but also received a second Juno nomination, solidifying their reputation in the Canadian music landscape. The band continued to evolve, adding keyboardist Evan Gordon and later Will Kidman, which enriched their sound and led to the successful release of “Tournament of Hearts” in 2005.
